What is Applications Integration Aarchitecture?

Oracle AIA consists of the following three important elements:

Industry Reference Models: Best in class pre-defined Business Processes and Industry Best Practices, which would help in solving chronic business pain points of the customers. It is very important for us to understand these Industry reference models and we need to prepare ahead of competition. Our functional consultants have to immediately start learning these reference models

AIA Foundation Pack: Even there are many best in class products, it is unfortunate that one Business Process is scattered across multiple applications. This is called Swiveling Chair effect. User has to move to multiple applications to complete one end to end transaction. For example to complete Oracle to Cash process, Customer might need to move between Siebel CRM, Oracle Procurement, and Oracle Financials etc applications. AIA Foundation Pack has predefined Web services and reference architecture which would enable integrating the scattered business processes across multiple systems (composition of scattered business processes) at rapid velocity. Our Functional and Technical Consultants have to understand AIA Foundation Pack

Oracle Process Integration Packs: Oracle has already built predefined process integration across multiple applications. These are off the shelf Process Integration Packs (PIPs) and could be plugged directly in between two applications. In this way the integration effort for composing the businesses processes would be very minimal. Oracle has developed more than 20+ PIPs.
